Leaders from our data and analytics team were featured speakers at the conference which focused on cloud computing, data, and AI.
The global cloud computing community recently gathered in Las Vegas for AWS re:Invent. The week-long event attracted nearly 60,000 attendees and featured keynote speeches, product launches, and technical sessions from leading technology experts.
Presenters from across industries, including three New York Life leaders, shared insights in data, cloud computing, cybersecurity, analytics, and artificial intelligence.
New York Life’s Don Vu, Boris Simanovich, and Scott Semanchik highlighted the company’s data modernization efforts and evolving AI strategy across multiple sessions.
Beyond boundaries: Converging analytics and AI to reshape the future
In a session on the re:Invent Innovation Stage, Chief Data & Analytics Officer Don Vu highlighted New York Life’s cloud migration journey working with AWS to create a centralized data foundation that supports enterprise-wide collaboration, strong governance, and AI-driven use cases.
Looking forward, Vu shared his excitement to further enhance New York Life’s data platform as the company continues to develop enterprise-wide AI capabilities.
“By embedding AI at the heart of our operations, we’re not just transforming our business — we’re creating meaningful value for our policyholders,” Vu said.

New York Life: Data platform modernization to generative AI innovation
Head of Machine Learning Operations Boris Simanovich and Lead Solutions Architect Scott Semanchik outlined New York Life’s data platform transformation to an audience of financial services peers. “Our goal is to activate the power of New York Life's data through enterprise AI and data products to deliver meaningful business impact,” Semanchik said.
By transitioning to a data lakehouse architecture (a system that allows for the storage and processing of all types of data), Simanovich and Semanchik explained how New York Life catalyzed personalized customer interactions and data-driven decision-making.

Driving innovation through a modern data platform and generative AI
Vu also presented New York Life’s generative AI implementation strategy in an analyst forum. He shared how New York Life has driven AI innovation through a phased framework designed to achieve “small wins” in daily operations, address complex targeted use cases, and pursue selective “big bets” for long-term impact. “Our approach enables New York Life to deploy scalable, impactful, and compliant AI solutions tailored to business needs,” Vu noted.
