INNOVATION
New York Life | January 16, 2024
As the conversation around artificial intelligence (AI) continues to evolve in 2025, New York Life Chief Data & Analytics Officer Don Vu provided valuable insights into the AI landscape during recent interviews with Bloomberg and VentureBeat.
Assessing vendor capabilities
In an interview with Bloomberg, Vu detailed New York Life’s strategic approach to scaling Microsoft Copilot deployments across select functions. While noting Copilot’s potential to enhance productivity, Vu also emphasized the importance of measured and deliberate AI adoption. He underscored the company's commitment to evaluating technology investments and ensuring tangible returns.
Solving the last-mile problem
In the VentureBeat piece, Vu identified user adoption and acceptance—often referred to as the "last-mile problem"—as a key challenge for AI leaders in 2025.
“It’s harder to change human behavior than deploy an app,” Vu noted, explaining why New York Life prioritizes change management and business process reengineering to upskill its workforce.
While advanced AI capabilities are expected to emerge throughout 2025, Vu stressed that New York Life's primary focus remains on the people and processes that will drive its AI journey forward.
