New York Life Chief Data and Analytics Officer Don Vu recently shared details of the company's modernization journey in an interview with CXOTalk podcast and a keynote panel at Celent’s GenAI Symposium. Vu explored how New York Life embraces the synergies between generative AI (GenAI) and business transformation to drive modernization during both appearances.

CXOTalk podcast: New York Life: Chief Data and Analytics Officer Explains Generative AI Strategy

Vu discussed how New York Life’s 179-year history enables the company to innovate and leverage nascent technology like GenAI.

“What's been really amazing is honoring and understanding our strengths, all those things that have made us so persistent and given us the longevity that we've had, and then building on that. When we think about the things that make us really unique – our mission-based way by which we go to market, our focus on our clients and our policy owners, the partnership we have with our agents – that really provides a lens through which we build our business strategy, and then also build these new capabilities,” Vu noted.

Celent panel: “Gen AI Unleashed: Insights from Financial Titans on Implementing the Next Wave of Artificial Intelligence”

Speaking to financial services experts, Vu explained how New York Life’s most senior leaders set a course to make the company an industry leader in GenAI nearly two years ago, intentionally weaving technology efforts into the company’s overarching business strategy.

“Generative AI is an amazing catalyst for cultural change,” Vu said. “When data, technology, and business teams align on shared goals and collaborate in iterative ways, we’ve found that has led to great success.”
