Connect and collaborate

Few employers possess the internal resources with the skills and credentials needed to not just identify problematic employee job duties but to also bridge the gap between a health condition and productivity. That is where the consultation of vocational coaches can help.

At New York Life Group Benefit Solutions, vocational coaches are master’s degree-prepared and nationally certified rehabilitation counselors who work with you and your employees to focus on holistic wellness, work functionality, and productivity. The EEOC recognizes rehabilitation professionals, such as our vocational coaches, as being able to provide ADA-required documentation about a disability and functional limitations.1

Vocational coaches also work in tandem with other health management programs the employer offers. These programs may include employee assistance, chronic condition support (a.k.a., disease management), pain management, lifestyle management, and medication management programs. This collaboration helps employees address everything in their lives that may be affecting their ability to remain at work and be productive.

When recommendations impact the workplace, the final decision on whether to implement the coach’s recommendations rests with the employer. Vocational coaches are uniquely positioned to be a source of expertise for employers who are interested in maximizing productivity, wellness, and benefits integration. If there is a recommendation that you feel is not right for your worksite, the vocational coach will work with you and attempt to identify a recommendation that will work better for you.

Either New York Life or the employer may discontinue this service at any time after the first policy/plan anniversary with 31 days written notice. If the policy/plan terminates, these services will terminate under the same terms.

New York Life does not assume any liability with respect to its recommendations, and results are not guaranteed. The employer retains responsibility for determining what recommendations to implement and for accommodation documentation.
