About the program

How we help

The goal of the New York Life Group Benefit Solutions Healthy Working Life® program is to:

  • Identify employees who could benefit and engage them in services appropriate to their needs.
  • Provide support to help keep them healthy and productive while working.
  • Help employees stay healthy, comfortable, and productive on the job.
  • Reduce or eliminate lost time from work.

The particular services provided depend on the employee’s serious health condition and other factors as determined by the NYL GBS Healthy Working Life® vocational coach’s assessment, but they may include:

  • Identifing barriers that may be preventing an employee from staying at work.
  • Providing one-on-one coaching to help employees overcome those barriers.
  • Identifying opportunities for:
    • Job task modifications.
    • Workstation ergonomic adjustments.
    • Transitional work assignments.
    • Assistive devices or attire.
  • Collaborating with other health care professionals to support the employee’s participation in a treatment plan.

NYL GBS may pay up to $1,000* for approved equipment or other accommodations that are part of the individual’s Healthy Working Life® Plan.

This is in addition to any rehabilitation benefits available under your New York Life Group Benefit Solutions disability plan, which may pay for additional expenses as appropriate.
