About the program

How it works in your company

The Healthy Working Life PreDisability program complements your current best practices related to employee health and wellness. Our New York Life Group Benefit Solutions Healthy Working Life® vocational coach can work with you to recommend the best ways to present our services to your employees by taking into account your workplace environment, culture, policies, and practices.

A solid return-to-work program can be an employer’s most effective tool to shorten disability durations and reduce the direct and indirect costs of absences. A formal, structured program that is uniformly applied throughout the organization is a best practice. At NYL GBS, we recognize that Human Resource departments are stretched and don’t always have the in-house expertise or resources to effectively coordinate a return-to-work program or comply with increasingly complicated ADA regulations.

To respond to the range of employers’ service needs and budgets we have developed Healthy Working Life Consulting services for NYL GBS disability clients.

Services available to all long-term disability clients at no cost include:

Up to two hours of web conference consultation with a senior member of the Healthy Working Life® team for program consultation, including:

  • Discuss return-to-work program issues.
  • Peer review of internal policies.
  • Trend analysis of cases referred to the coach.

Access to Americans with Disabilities Act helpline to get expert assistance with:

  • Understanding if and how ADA guidelines generally apply to your company.
  • Suggesting programs and services that will support workplace accommodations.
  • Referrals to additional resources that can assist with individual situations, such as the Job Accommodation Network and other resources identified by the U.S. Equal Employment Opportunity Commission.

Access to our Absence Management Resource Center and a copy of our employer's guide to creating a successful return-to-work program.
