Read a history of New York Life’s first 175 years.

New York Life had ambitious plans to mark the company’s 175^th anniversary in 2020, many of which were cancelled or postponed due to the COVID-19 pandemic. One project that got shelved, so to speak, was a history book exploring our first 175 years.

Then Chairman & CEO Ted Mathas decided to hold off on finishing the book until we could add a chapter about the company’s response to the pandemic. His reasoning? New York Life’s financial position going into the pandemic and our actions taken as it unfolded were more proof of the book’s theme – that we are a company Built for All Times.
