New York Life supports its employees as they build their families – however they choose to do that, including through adoption.

What do I need to know?

New York Life’s adoption benefit policy not only offers financial support, but it allows adoptive parents the time off to bond with their new child and ease the transition that comes with a growing family.

The company’s Adoption Assistance Program, which is available to all eligible adoptive parents at New York Life, provides:

  • Up to $10,000 in financial assistance to cover eligible adoption expenses for one adoption per family, per year.
  • Up to six months leave to spend fully dedicated time with a newly adopted child, including up to eight weeks of paid leave.
  • Paid parental leave is available to fathers, domestic partners, and same-sex spouses.

For offering these benefits, New York Life has been named a 2024 Best Adoption-Friendly Workplace by the Dave Thomas Foundation for Adoption. The list recognizes 100 organizations leading the way in providing adoption benefits, celebrating those who make adoption and foster care supported options for all working parents.

Is there anything else I should know?

Parenting is no small challenge, which is why New York Life’s support of families that adopt doesn’t end when the adoption process ends.

Through our LifeCare program, we support parents with Backup Care Connection, a service that assists parents with childcare options when childcare plans go awry by offering same-day childcare for up to 20 days per year, per child at just $10 per day.

Our hybrid “3-2” work week model of three days in the office and two days of working from home allows parents to devote more time to their families by reducing commuting time, while retaining the professional advantages of networking, collaboration, and personal connection with colleagues. In addition, we offer ad hoc work-from-home days which can be used when childcare arrangement unexpectedly fall through.

Finally, we understand that parenting can be stressful, which is why we encourage employees who are new parents to take advantage of our short-term counseling resources to maintain their good mental health.

At New York Life, we have a history of assisting and providing help for our employees, no matter what life throws at them. Each and every one of our employee benefits is designed to provide the maximum support in the areas our teams need it most. Each and every one of our employee benefits is designed to provide the maximum support in the areas our teams need it most. Read an overview of our benefits or visit our benefits page to find out more.
