Caring for a growing family or aging parents, and, in the case of many, may be the most difficult job any of us will ever have. That’s why at New York Life we’re committed to helping our colleagues care for the most important people in their life.
We understand that about one in five workers are providing care to family members, devoting an average of 20 unpaid caregiving hours per week. While the Family and Medical Leave Act allows employees to take up to 12 weeks of unpaid, job-protected leave each year to care for an immediate family member, we don’t believe that goes far enough. To support our colleagues, we offer a comprehensive range of caregiver services and benefits to help them care for their loved ones.
Our LifeCare service is a work-life benefits program that is available to all New York Life employees. LifeCare offers information on the important caregiving challenges you face, tools to help guide and inform your decision-making, valuable discounts, and specialist support.
Through our LifeCare program, employees have access to:
Yes! New York Life is also helping colleagues start new families. For example, if you are planning to have a child or adopt, we support you by covering pregnancy leave through short-term disability benefits, while adoption costs may be reimbursed up to $10,000 for any eligible expenses over a 12-month period. Plus, paid parental leave is available for fathers, domestic partners, and same-sex spouses.
We know that caregiving can be stressful, which is why we encourage colleagues to take advantage of our short-term counseling resources to maintain their good mental health.
At New York Life, we have a history of assisting and providing help for our employees, no matter what life throws at them. Each and every one of our employee benefits is designed to provide support in the areas our people need it most.
