Martin King, managing director and chair of impact investing at New York Life, was recently featured in a fireside chat at Fairview Capital’s 2024 annual meeting and 30th anniversary celebration.

One of the largest minority-owned investment management firms in the United States, Fairview is a leader in venture capital and private equity investing with over $10 billion under management since its inception three decades ago. The firm invests on behalf of institutional investors, including public and private pension plans, foundations, and endowments.

The fireside chat, facilitated by Kola Olofinboba, managing partner at Fairview, focused on the strong partnership between New York Life and Fairview that dates back to 2021 when New York Life launched the company’s impact investment initiative.

King and Olofinboba discussed how New York Life’s $200 million in commitments to Fairview have led to a variety of investments in diverse and emerging fund managers, who, in turn, predominately invest in minority-led small businesses.

The pair also discussed how the strong cultural alignment between both firms led to New York Life acquiring a minority ownership stake in Fairview in April, 2024. King and Olofinboba also celebrated what the relationship means for Fairview’s continued leadership and growth opportunities.
