Since its inception in 2017, New York Life's Internal Mobility Program (IMP) has helped employees interested in proactively guiding their own career paths by providing general career counseling, as well as targeted resume- and interviewing skills-coaching.
The IMP page on the Company's internal collaboration and communication platform makes it easy for employees to take advantage of the full range of available mobility resources offered by New York Life.
There have been hundreds of inquiries into the Internal Mobility program, which has resulted in 401 participants being hired into new roles as of August 2023. Forty-one development workshops have taken place — focused on either resume writing or interview skills — in which approximately 311 employees have participated. Additionally, the program offers individual coaching sessions on these topics and others, such as career development. There have been hundreds of individual coaching sessions on various topics as well.
“The great thing about the Internal Mobility Program is it’s really a working relationship with the participants,” says Gen Bean, Program Manager, Talent Acquisition. “It’s more than just the workshops that are offered; we create a consultative approach to help each individual reach their career goals and assist them to put their best foot forward in pursuing those goals.“
The program is voluntary and confidential for employees who have worked at the company for at least one year in a full-time role and are in good standing. Employees may sign up themselves for training or counseling, or they may be recommended for the program by HR Business Partners, managers, or recruiters.
