Senior Vice President of Group Insurance
Scott Berlin is senior vice president of New York Life’s Group Insurance businesses, which include Group Benefit Solutions (GBS) and Group Membership Association Division (GMAD). GBS is a leader in the market for group life, accident and disability insurance, and absence management services to primarily mid-to-large size employers. GMAD provides insurance – primarily life insurance and disability income insurance – to members of affinity groups.
Mr. Berlin joined New York Life as an actuarial trainee in 1990. In 1996, he joined the Individual Life department, where he held roles of increasing responsibility, including senior vice president in charge of the Individual Life department. He was named Chief Financial Officer of New York Life Enterprises in 2010, where he was responsible for overseeing financial results of all Enterprises’ international and domestic businesses. Mr. Berlin also led the Institutional Life business, most recently from 2019 to 2021. In 2023, a newly appointed head of GMAD began reporting to Mr. Berlin.
Mr. Berlin earned a bachelor’s degree in mathematics from the University of Michigan, is a fellow of the Society of Actuaries, and a member of the American Academy of Actuaries.
