NEW YORK - New York Life today announced the appointment of Ramon Casanova as head of Life Insurance Solutions, a key area of the company’s Foundational Business. In this role, Casanova leads product development and management, strategy, third-party distribution and operations, and optimization of the in-force block of individual life policies. He also oversees the company’s Business Solutions organization, which provides group and individual solutions to small businesses. Casanova reports to Senior Vice President and Head of Product Solutions Dylan Huang.

Casanova joined New York Life in 2002 and has held roles of increasing responsibility within the finance organization, including serving as Retail Annuities’ chief financial officer and as head of Actuarial M&A, where he was instrumental in New York Life's acquisition of the Group Benefit Solutions business from Cigna. Most recently, he served as the chief financial officer for Life Insurance Solutions, overseeing all financial aspects of the business. Casanova earned a BS in mathematics from McGill University and an MS in mathematics from the University of Chicago. He is a Fellow of the Society of Actuaries and a member of the American Academy of Actuaries.

Todd Taylor, who previously served as head of Life Insurance Solutions, is head of New York Life Direct, the industry leader in direct-to-consumer life insurance, succeeding Alison Micucci.
